Resilience is the ability to recover after events such as coastal storms, flooding, and wildfires rather than only reacting to the impacts. A resilient community is informed and prepared and will recover more quickly from destructive events. This ability can reduce the human, environmental, and economic impacts. Following a vulnerability assessment, Stell can recommend adaptations and mitigations to minimize negative impacts and increase resiliency.

BUILDER TM Sustainment Management System (SMS) Course Development and Training (U.S. Army)

Stell managed development of a course to provide Headquarters, Installation Management Command staff with the skills needed to understand the BUILDER SMS software for building asset lifecycle management and perform validation and assessment inspections of facilities. We also provided the training. The hands-on inventory validation and assessment used handheld computing devises and the BUILDER Remote Entry Database program. BUILDER provides an overall performance of building assets and key components.  It improves the allocation of process and return of lifecycle investments by directing resources to the most condition-critical components.

Strategic Sustainability Program Planning (Defense Logistics Agency – DLA)

Under Executive Order 13693, federal agencies must incorporate climate-resilient design and management elements into the operation, repair, and renovation of existing agency buildings and the design of new buildings.  Stell is assisting DLA in understanding, planning, and charting baseline natural resource use information related to energy, greenhouse gas, water, waste management practices and other environmental initiatives in accordance with the EO. We our supporting the development of a strategic plan for prioritization of environmental performance and sustainability opportunities. With this information, DLA will prepare for impacts of climate change consistent by identifying and addressing projected impacts of climate change on mission critical water, energy, communication, and transportation demands and considering those climate impacts in operational preparedness planning for major agency facilities and operations.
