By preparing, updating, and implementing Integrated Wildland Fire Management Plans (IWFMPs), we have experience with wildland fire suppression and hazard fuel reduction, fire break/fire road maintenance, prescribed burning, and fire tower operation and maintenance. Based on our experience, we can help you improve forest and rangeland health and reduce the threat of large fire events.

Natural Resources and Forest Management Support, Fort Campbell, KY (U.S. Army)

Stell supported updating and implementing Fort Campbell’s IWFMP, responsible for technical wildfire suppression and fuels management support.  Our foresters and wildland firefighters completed rear-area fire management activities, suppressing wildfires and conducting prescribed burn operations. We were responsible for determining the best suppression method by taking into consideration fuel conditions of the area, feasibility of backfiring, wind direction and velocity, and fire spread index. We provided lookout capability using standard fire finders to locate smoke, estimate probably distance, and determine probable size and characteristics of the fire. We surveyed forested and open field areas for fuel load conditions and generated data for input to software database and modeling applications ArcGIS, FIREMON, and V Smoke.  Our staff surveyed and maintained critical rear-area infrastructure for appropriate defensible space conditions to control transmission of fire to facilities, structures,  and other protected natural resources and controlled built-up vegetation and small woody growth.burn18bb3june2014

Forestry and Wildlife Management, Fort Jackson, SC (U.S. Army)

Our foresters prepared areas for and applied prescribed fire as specified in the installation’s annual prescribed fire plan.  We coordinated with installation personnel and documented burn implementation data, post-burn evaluations and assessment of the effects of the fire.  We revised maps and databases to document the sites of prescribed burns. Fuel moisture, precipitation and other weather data were collected and recorded during prescribed fire seasons.
